Gmail or Yahoo? These Two Privacy Lawsuits Are Worth Keeping an Eye On

Do you still have a Gmail or Yahoo email account? If you do, this is definitely one lawsuit worth adding to your watch list.

When I saw these two cases, my first thought was… “Wait… I have both.”

One lawsuit involves Google, and the other involves Yahoo. While they’re separate cases, they both center around privacy concerns and how user data was allegedly collected or tracked.

What’s the Gmail Lawsuit About?

The lawsuit alleges that Google tracked certain users’ web browsing activity even when tracking settings suggested it was turned off. Google disputes the allegations, and the case is still moving through the legal process.

What’s the Yahoo Lawsuit About?

Yahoo is facing a separate lawsuit involving allegations related to user privacy and a technology known as ConnectID, which plaintiffs claim was used to track users. Like the Google case, this lawsuit is still developing.

Why I’m Talking About These Now

I’d rather tell you before the filing period opens than after the deadline has already passed. Some of the biggest settlements I’ve shared filled my comments with people saying, “I wish I would’ve known sooner!”

Ready to Keep an Eye on These?

These lawsuits aren’t accepting claim forms yet, but you can join them now so you’re notified when filing opens. I’d rather be ahead of the game than find out after the deadline has passed!

Tiff’s Tip

If I hear about a lawsuit that looks promising, I add it to my list right away instead of trying to remember it months later. It only takes a minute now and can save you from missing out later.
